AKILA GIBBS
Executive Director
Akila Gibbs is seasoned professional in the non-profit world who for the last eight years has devoted herself to the issues associated with our aging population. As director of public relations for the Alzheimer's Association, Gibbs worked to raise public awareness of Alzheimer's disease in Southern California and was instrumental in raising funds to support Alzheimer's research. She worked on several major projects that promoted healthy aging programs for seniors and helped to develop collaborative relationships with government agencies, universities, and other non-profit organizations. Prior to joining the Alzheimer's Association, Gibbs, an award winning journalist, worked in television news for 16 years, chiefly with the Fox News Channel, KTLA and KCBS as a planning editor and producer. As senior communications manager for The Gas Company, Gibbs developed and implemented media policy and strategy, which promoted and supported The Gas Company's business plans and objectives. Gibbs holds a degree in Communications from the University of California, San Diego.

CYNTHIA ROSEDALE
Director of Events and Senior Olympics
Cynthia has been a staff member since 1992, having previously served on the Board of Directors for six years. She was born and raised in the Pasadena area, having graduated from Westridge School for Girls and University of California, Berkeley. She currently serves as Chairperson of the California Senior Games Association. She and her daughter Katie along with their two dogs and three cats have lived in San Marino for the past eighteen years. (626) 685-6724

ALAN BARASORDA
Director of Finance
Alan Luis Barasorda joined the Center's management team as the Director of Finance and Membership in May 2007. Alan is a born Angeleno. For the past 12 years, he has worked for the Los Angeles Conservancy, a nonprofit architectural preservation advocacy organization, as Finance Administrator. Since graduating from UCLA, he has remained active in their Alumni Association. He is also an active volunteer at the new Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles. Alan resides in Montebello with his wife and two children. At present, he is serving as treasurer of the Rose Bowl Bruins Club, a chapter of the UCLA Alumni Association. (626) 685-6723

TONJIA BARNES
Director of Client Services and Outreach
Tonjia joined the Pasadena Senior Center in 1997. In 2001, Tonjia was named Employment Services Director, overseeing all aspects of the program and supervision of staff. In November of 2002, Tonjia became the Center's Client Services and Outreach Director and currently works in partnership with community organizations in providing assistance and resources to the homebound and frail seniors. She holds a LVN License and a B.A. in Business Administration.

RAÚL MARTÍNEZ
Director of Programs and Operations
Raúl graduated in Business Administration and acquired a higher degree in Productivity and Quality Control from the Technological University of Mexico. He was born in Mexico City where he had a successful career in the hotel industry for over 10 years. He moved to Pasadena with his wife and two sons four years ago. After moving to the United States, he decided to continue doing what he loves most: SERVING PEOPLE. He entered the world of nonprofit organizations working in different capacities at Pasadena's AIDS Service Center. (626) 685-6706
