Food Stamps
You must apply for
Food Stamps at your local Department of Public Social Services, 955 N.
Lake Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91104. Your Eligibility Worker will interview
you and ask you to provide proof of your statements about who is in your
household, their citizenship, income, and expenses. S/he will then
determine if you are eligible to Food Stamps, and if so, to the amount you
can get each month. The entire process must be completed in 30 days, but
if you have an emergency, you can get Food Stamps in three days. Be sure
to tell your Eligibility Worker if you have an emergency and need your
Food Stamps right away. You will receive a Food Stamp ID card and an
issuance card. Your Eligibility Worker will tell you where and when you
can pick up your Food Stamps each month. You have until the end of the
month to pick up your monthly Food Stamp allotment. When you go to the
Food Stamp outlet, you will give the cashier your ID and issuance cards.
They will be swiped into the computer to find out how many Food Stamp
coupons you are entitled to receive.
