How well do you know Pasadena? Growing out of a tourist reputation founded on perfect winter weather, Pasadena has proved fertile ground for excellence in arts, science, architecture, and culture. Join us as we explore the life of local artist Jean Mannheim, a major contributor to the early Arroyo Seco artist colony in Pasadena; Learn about the behind the scenes creation of the annual Rose Parade and it’s beautiful floats; Understand how ArtCenter is educating designers who design solutions that we really need; Explore a dynamic time in Pasadena’s history when the population grew from less than five thousand to over 76,000 people; Discuss the rich and complex history of African Americans in Pasadena. These interesting and surprising aspects of this small but complex city will be explored. Register for individual lectures available January 30, 2020.
