PASADENA SENIOR CENTER HOSTS THE SCOTTISH FIDDLERS OF LOS ANGELES FOR A SPECIAL CELTIC CONCERT
Celtic music, song and dance are coming to the Pasadena Senior Center when the renowned Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles perform on Saturday, November 2 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.
Since 1981, the Fiddlers have delighted audiences throughout Southern California with their lively and irresistibly uplifting music of Scotland, the Shetland Islands, Cape Breton Island and Ireland. Their playing is characterized by hard-driving reels, hauntingly beautiful strathspeys (a slow Scottish dance) and sweet waltzes. The Scottish Fiddlers are a community orchestra and are led by internationally-known Scottish fiddler Jan Tappan.
Reservations are suggested, and the cost for this event is only $5 for members of the Pasadena Senior Center and $10 for nonmembers. To register or for more information, click this link or call 626-795-4331.
The Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles was founded by Colin Gordon, shortly after he won the first Scottish Fiddle Competition in Southern California. The group is the oldest Strathspey and Reel Society in the United States. Strathspey and Reel Societies, common in Scotland, are made up of professional and amateur musicians who play Scottish fiddle music.
The Pasadena Senior Center’s mission is to improve the lives of older adults through caring service with opportunities for social interaction, fitness programs, basic support and needs services, education, volunteerism and community activism.
