DIEDRE WOLOWNICK,
AUTHOR OF THE SHARP END OF LIFE,
TALKS ABOUT HER INTIMATE JOURNEY OF COURAGE AND PERSISTENCE

Monday, June 3, 6PM
Pasadena Senior Center
85 East Holly Street, Pasadena

On Monday, June 3, Pasadena Senior Center is delighted to be hosting a talk and book signing with author and rock climber Diedre Wolownick. She is a wife, mother, teacher, musician, marathoner and rock climber. At age 66 she became the oldest woman to climb El Capitan in Yosemite with her son, the famed “Free Solo” climber, Alex Honnold.

She shares her intimate journey, revealing how her climbing achievement reflects a broader story of courage and persistence.

From a confused young wife and busy but lonely mother to confident middle-aged athlete, Dierdre brings the audience and her readers along as she finds new strength, happiness, and community in the outdoors- and a life of learning acceptance, and spirit.

Diedre’s book, The Sharp End of Life, illustrates her years of struggle in marriage and ultimate divorce, and how she found inspiration in her now-adult children’s passions, as well as new depths within herself.

The Pasadena Center provides innovative, cutting-edge, nationally recognized programs for older adults in the Pasadena community. We’re so pleased to be a part of Diedre’s efforts to share a story for people of all ages who value innovation, interdependence, and creative options for living well. Her life exemplifies our motto for living, #AgeWell.
