FREE SEPTEMBER MOVIES AT PASADENA SENIOR CENTER FOR MEMBERS AND GUESTS

Friday movie matinees will be shown Sept. 2 to 23 at 1 p.m. at the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly St.

Seating will be limited, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each member of the Pasadena Senior Center may reserve one additional seat for a nonmember guest.

“It Happened One Night” (1934, NR) starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert Friday, Sept. 2 – A renegade reporter trailing a young runaway heiress for a big story joins her on a bus heading from Florida to New York, and they end up stuck with each other when the bus leaves them at one of the stops.

“9/11” (2017, R) starring Charlie Sheen and Gina Gershon Friday, Sept. 9 – Five people trapped in an elevator during the Sept. 11 attacks work together, never giving up hope, to try to escape before the unthinkable happens.

“The Man from Toronto” (2022, PG-13) starring Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart Friday, Sept. 16 – The world’s deadliest assassin and New York’s biggest screw-up are mistaken for each other at an Airbnb rental.

“Three Amigos” (1986, PG) starring Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short Friday, Sept. 23 – During the silent-film era, three Hollywood actors accept an invitation from a Mexican village to perform their onscreen good-guy cowboy roles in a live stage production, but the villagers believe they are real heroes and expect them to get rid of the town’s bad guy.

In addition to online classes, onsite events and other activities, members and nonmembers of the Pasadena Senior Center are encouraged to visit the website regularly for highlights of a quarterly magazine, free food delivery for older adults in need, COVID updates specifically for older adults and more. 

The center is an independent, donor-supported nonprofit organization that has served older adults for more than 60 years. During the pandemic, doors are open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for social services as well as the library, Sy Graff Fitness Center, computer lab and limited occupancy for events. Rooms are sanitized after each use.

In accordance with Pasadena Public Health Department guidelines, proof of COVID vaccination is required for everyone who uses the fitness center or attends onsite activities indoors. Masks are optional.
