#AgeWell Day is September 30
Staying active as you age can work wonders for your physical and mental health and lead to a longer and more fulfilling life with greater independence. There is no magic pill that can take the place of life-sustaining activities for older adults. If you’re not as active as you’d like to be, it’s never too late to begin, and if you’re already active and want to add some additional variety, now is the time!
The Pasadena Senior Center will be hopping with activities Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. when adults 50 and older attend the free, fun and informative #AgeWell Day. Participants do not have to be members of the Pasadena Senior Center or live in Pasadena.
There will be something for everyone, including the latest information about medical marijuana and CBD oil, arts and culture activities, blood pressure and glucose screenings, wellness information and resources, how to make the most of your smartphone, movement activities such as line dancing and yoga, fitness center orientation, live entertainment, complimentary buffet lunch and more.
To register or for more information, visit www.pasadenaseniorcenter.org and click on Activities & Events, then Special Events or call (626) 795-4331.
Why should you care about #AgeWell Day? Studies by the National Institutes of Health have shown that taking it easy in retirement can be quite risky. Often, inactivity of the brain, body and spirit is more to blame than age when older adults lose the ability to perform normal activities of daily living and can lead to more doctor visits, more hospitalizations and more use of medications illnesses.
For older adults, this should be a time of life when new doors open and new experiences beckon. So what are you waiting for? Visit the website today and register for #AgeWell Day!
