A Zoom presentation presented by the Pasadena Senior Center on Thursday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. will explore the history of panorama, a large-scale artistic format popularized in the 18th and 19thcenturies.
This Cultural Thursday event with the title “Grand Views: The Immersive World of Panoramas” will feature an array of paintings, prints, posters and archival photographs from that period. The multimedia presentation will be narrated live by Dr. James Fishburne, director of Forest Lawn Museum. It also will include original artworks and artifacts related to Polish painter Jan Styka’s enormous, original 1897 195-foot-wide by 45-foot-tall “Crucifixion” panorama on permanent display in a purpose-built hall next to Forest Lawn Museum.
Registration is free for members of the Pasadena Senior Center and only $5 for nonmembers 50 and older. Everyone who registers will receive an email link to the Zoom presentation.

He became director of the Forest Lawn Museum in 2018 and has curated several popular exhibits there, including “The Elevated Eye: Aerial Photography Past and Present” and “Judson Studios: Stained Glass from Gothic to Street Style.”
