STAYING FIT AND ACTIVE IS FUN AND EASY AT THE PASADENA SENIOR CENTER’S FITNESS CENTER WITH AN ALL-INCLUSIVE MEMBERSHIP
Older adults in the Pasadena area looking to ‘age well’ and interested in a full-service fitness and wellness center can find it by joining the Pasadena Senior Center and its state-of-the-art Fitness Center.
PSC’s Fitness Center facility boasts a full range of new equipment — including more than a dozen strength training and cardio machines — free weights, group fitness glasses and personal trainers to members. What’s more, membership at the Fitness Center is all-inclusive and features a variety of ‘value-added’ fitness and wellness features to all to help enrich and assist older Americans with moving forward with competency and confidence. In addition to personal training, group classes and specialized programs, membership includes:
The Health Enrichment Program: This program promotes well-being with practices designed to advance and improve daily function through physical, cognitive, emotional and social health. Participants can receive individualized coaching plans developed by a team of health and fitness professions (and USC doctoral students) to enrich aspects of their health and fitness, including strength training workouts, occupational therapy, as well as stress management, nutrition, balance, memory and dexterity instruction.
After Physical Therapy: Have you completed a physical therapy for an illness but still want to continue to gain strength and mobility? The Fitness Center’s After Physical Therapy program offers a four-month seamless transition from therapy to curated physical training to ensure ongoing support and progress. After a comprehensive evaluation by a licensed physical therapist, a tailored program will be created for you to meet your specific fitness needs. The cost is only $35.00 per session with a minimum of four sessions. Membership in the Fitness Center is not required.
Balance Workshops: This free eight-week program is specifically designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase balance and activity levels among older adults. Participants will learn specific balance exercises, as well as participate in lectures and discussions to gain knowledge about this important topic.
The Fitness Center at the Pasadena Senior Center is fully equipped and staffed by both professionals and volunteers who are eager to assist and empower older adults to age gracefully and well through both physical and cognitive fitness.
All-inclusive membership at the Pasadena Senior Center Fitness Center is only $120 annually, in addition to the $45 membership at the PSC.
For 65 years, Pasadena Senior Center’s mission has been to improve the lives of older adults through caring service with opportunities for social interaction, fitness programs, basic support and needs services, education, volunteerism and community activism. With 10,000 Americans per day becoming older adults, the center is a leader in addressing issues of aging and provides innovative, cutting-edge, nationally recognized programs for this population group.
As a donor-supported nonprofit, the center operates without any local, state or federal funding and provides more services to older adults than any other organization in the San Gabriel Valley. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. To learn more visit www.pasadenaseniorcenter.org or call 626-794-4331.
