“The Great Composers” will be the theme of the six-week summer term of The Masters Series, which embraces lifelong learning, Tuesdays, June 20 to Aug. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. via Zoom, presented by the Pasadena Senior Center.
Dr. Alan Chapman, producer and on-air host weekday mornings at KUSC Classical Radio and a faculty member at the Colburn Conservatory of Music, will present the weekly multimedia class, which will dive deep into the lives and works of six iconic composers.
- Tuesday, June 20 — Sergei Rachmaninoff
- Tuesday, June 27 — Johannes Brahms
- Tuesday, July 11 — Antonín Dvořák
- Tuesday, July 18 — Maurice Ravel
- Tuesday, July 25 — Felix Mendelssohn
- Tuesday, August 1 — Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
The Masters Series will not take place Tuesday, July 4, due to the Independence Day holiday.
Each weekly presentation will feature some familiar and perhaps not so familiar works, video performances, visuals and Chapman’s engaging commentary.
The cost for the six-week series is only $75 for members of the Pasadena Senior Center and $90 for nonmembers.
To register or for more information, visit www.pasadenaseniorcenter.org and click on Lectures & Classes, then Masters Series Lifelong Learning or call 626-795-4331.
